Sri Jyoti Group was promoted by Mr. Srinivas Sanapala to set up renewable energy projects. Mr. Sanapala comes from an entrepreneur family owning rice mills and educational institutions in coastal Andhra under the Geetanjali banner. Mr. Sri Sanapala has a chemical engineering degree from Andhra University and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University, USA. After the completion of his MBA, Mr. Sanapala has started his career with JP Morgan in the mergers and acquisition division. After 5 years with JP Morgan, Mr. Sanapala joined McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting organisation and had risen to the rank of Director, with in a short span of 9 years. Mr. Sanapala had returned back to India to look after the family businesses in 2010. To set his own mark, he has started the renewable energy business with a goal of reducing the pollution and improving the energy mix of the country.
In October 2014, the company’s first biomass-based power plant started commercial operations after being successfully set up in record time of 11 months at Bhiwani, Haryana. Subsequently, the company expanded to solar power and established 2 solar power plants in Kurnool and Ananthapur in Andhra Pradesh.
In 2018, as part of the initiative of Government of India to eliminate stubble burning, Sri Jyoti has won the licenses to setup two out of the four paddy straw-based power projects. Both the projects are expected to be commissioned by March 2020.
Mr. Sanapala is a regular speaker at key note events related to renewable energy and has become the go to person for ministry of renewable energy for biomass-based projects.
Mr. Sanapala lives with his wife and two kids in Delhi NCR.
